Advocacy

If you feel that you want a person to negotiate or talk on your behalf, Beyond Blindness can direct you to an appropriate Advocacy Agency. Alternatively, you may have a family member or friend who could be your advocate.

What is an Advocate?

Sometimes you may feel having someone represent and support you through an issue or problem is better than doing it alone. A person who provides such support is called an advocate.

What can we provide?

Beyond Blindness can provide advocacy in a number of areas. The intention of this service is to assist members to access or better understand the services that are available to them through other organisations or agencies.

Areas of advocacy support include:

  • Accommodation
  • Financial support
  • Health Needs
  • Individual Needs
  • Social and Sporting Groups
  • Government Agencies
  • Volunteer Organisations
  • Other Blind/Low Vision Organisations
